Kydex Mag Carriers for Carry, Duty and Competition
A spare magazine is only useful if you can reach it the same way every time. These Kydex mag carriers hold the magazine at a fixed index so the baseplate sits where your hand expects it, whether you carry one spare on your belt for everyday carry or run a pair on a competition rig. Most models are caliber-based rather than pistol-specific, so a single carrier covers the double stack magazines from several handguns.
Each carrier is formed from US Kydex with an adjustable retention screw, so you can set how firmly the magazine is held and change it as the Kydex settles. Mounting is ambidextrous on most models and works inside or outside the waistband. AR-pattern rifle magazines have their own dedicated carrier. Everything here ships free and carries the Unlimited GRIT Lifetime Warranty.
Pick by Magazine and Mounting Position
For a single spare that works inside or outside the belt, the IWB/OWB mag carrier fits 9mm, 10mm, .40 and .45 single or double stack magazines. Carrying two, the OWB double mag carrier holds a pair side by side, and the ambidextrous mag carrier works for left- or right-hand setups. Rifle shooters need the AR mag carrier. For storage rather than carry, mag organizer panels keep loaded magazines sorted in a safe or range bag.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are mag carriers specific to my pistol model?
Usually not. Unlike holsters, which are molded per pistol, most mag carriers are built around magazine dimensions, so one carrier covers the double stack magazines of several handguns in the same caliber family. Check the listing for the caliber and the stack type, single or double, rather than searching for your pistol by name. AR-pattern rifle magazines are the exception and need a dedicated carrier sized for that magazine body.
Which way should a mag carrier face?
Bullets forward, toward your centreline, on the support side of your body. That orientation lets you index the baseplate with your thumb and drive the magazine straight into the well without rotating your wrist. Most shooters position the carrier just forward of the support-side hip, roughly at 9 o'clock for a right-handed shooter. Our ambidextrous models can be flipped, so set the orientation before you commit to a belt position.
How tight should magazine retention be?
Tight enough that the magazine stays seated when you invert the carrier and shake it, loose enough that you can draw it cleanly with one hand. Set it with the adjustable retention screw, turning in small increments and testing between each turn. Test with a loaded magazine rather than an empty one, since the added weight changes how the carrier holds. Kydex relaxes slightly during the first weeks, so re-check the screw once after break-in.
Can I carry a mag carrier inside the waistband?
Yes. The IWB/OWB and ambidextrous models mount either way, so the same carrier works inside the waistband for concealment or outside for a faster reload. Inside the waistband, position it on your support side and give it a rigid belt to clip to, otherwise the weight of a loaded magazine will pull the belt down over the day.
